Officially Sick of WordPress

Saturday, August 9th, 2008

The last few releases of WordPress have been buggy at best, not to mention you have to bloat your install just to get some decent features. I liked WordPress the first time I used it but as of late it has become more of a bane than a boon.

So I figure I might as well do something about it and write some blog software specifically for me. Yes, everyone between here and the sun has written blog software and why can’t I just fall in line and not reinvent the wheel?

Reason is, none of the wheels out there give me as smooth a ride to where I want to be without costing me an arm and a leg in server performance. If I’m going to spend the amount of time I’ve spent recently fixing things, I might as well be spending that time in constructive ways.

Site Downtime

Sunday, June 8th, 2008

I may have some site downtime over the next week as I transfer over to a new host.  I’ve been using a very cheap webhost over the last year due to my college student budget, but now I’m out in the real world and have bandwidth and language needs that I’ve found a better host for. I’m switching over to slicehost.com. I have had a desire to work with Ruby on Rails and possibly Python web dev at some point.

Hopefully all goes well, but this is a bit of a dive for me.

Upcoming Videocasts

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008

I plan on doing some videocasts in the near future. I’m planning on primarily focuses on Flex/Flash but wouldn’t mind delving off into other topics. If there are any special requests any readers have feel free to comment or send me an email through the contact section.

Campus Visualization Project

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

I’ve added a dedicated page for the campus visualization project I’d previously mentioned. A few people have mentioned interest in it. If you’re interested in it you should bookmark that page and check back as further updates won’t be posted on this blog (the only exception being an announcement of the finishing of the project.

If you’re on CGSociety, feel free to stop by the sister thread there.
