About

Nathan LevesqueMy name is Nathan Levesque, although that’s a bit of an obvious statement considering where you are. I am a senior at Springfield College studying Computer Graphics. I am presently beginning an internship developing an Adobe AIR application using Flex and Flash.

I began web programming 8 years ago by learning HTML 4.01 on my own. I learned how to use image editors and made several website I hope never see the light of day again (or my designer and programming tastes may shrivel at the sight of it). I was part of the wave of people who got a passing knowledge in HTML and made a Geocities website with hundreds of animated GIFs on it. My favorite ones were animated flames.

Fast forward to 2004. I’d slightly followed web programming development up to this point and was vaguely aware of something named CSS. I had a wakeup call. My skills were at least four years behind the times at that point and I needed to catch up. So I learned XHTML and CSS. I had also been learning a little C++ on the side and was just beginning to understand Object Oriented Programming. But that still wasn’t enough. Over the course of the next two years I picked up a little JavaScript and PHP. Still not enough.

Over the last year I have picked up the pace even more, familiarizing myself with C# and .NET, XNA, ASP.NET, SQL, Actionscript 3, Flex, and AIR. I feel like I’m being propelled by these new technologies. There still remains many things I wish to learn. However, I have realized that at this point in my career I need so focus.

So here we are at the present day. My focus is on Flex and AIR applications. I also dabble with C# and XNA in my spare time, however, I feel that my focus is towards a mix of backend/frontend development of web technologies. I’m always on the lookout for new technologies because I’ve learned that if I sit on my hands for even half a year, I have another year worth of catching up to do.

Thanks for coming to my site, I would appreciate hearing from anyone who reads it to talk about anything, time permitting. I do respond to personal email sent through the contact section.
